OUR MISSION: To advocate for and promote Amateur Radio as a structured, skill-based tool to support individuals in recovery from addiction — building purpose, community, and a sober social network across Ohio.

Amateur Radio Education & Licensing
Amateur Radio Education & Licensing
Structured, in-person instruction in Ham Radio theory, operation, and FCC licensing for individuals in recovery. No prior experience required.
• Licensing classes at recovery centers and partner facilities statewide
• FCC exam prep and facilitation — Technician, General & Amateur Extra levels
• Hands-on training and mentorship by licensed operators
• Loaner equipment and study materials provided to those in need
Recovery Community Outreach & Events
Recovery Community Outreach & Events
In-person outreach across Ohio connecting individuals with resources, building community, and raising awareness of Amateur Radio as a recovery tool.
• Co-hosting recovery-focused community events and expos
• Public demonstrations of Amateur Radio for new participants
• Distribution of recovery resources and referrals to treatment services
• Partnerships with recovery organizations, treatment providers, and radio clubs
Peer Mentorship & Ongoing Support Network
Peer Mentorship & Ongoing Support Network
Licensed graduates join a peer network of operators in recovery for connection, accountability, and the opportunity to give back.
• Scheduled on-air radio net check-ins among members in recovery
• Peer mentorship pairing for newly licensed participants
• Graduates serve as instructors and volunteers in future licensing classes

Amateur Radio requires focused study, technical skill, and consistent practice — qualities that redirect attention away from substance use toward a productive, community-oriented pursuit.
Earning an FCC license provides a tangible milestone that builds self-esteem, while the peer network offers lasting social connection and accountability critical to long-term recovery.
